Another absolutely gorgeous day here in Southern California (76 degrees this afternoon). I took the opportunity to grab my SLR and went up to one of my favorite places in the San Fernando Valley, O'Melveny Park. I love photographing tree trunks for their great texture and contrast, and have often photographed the trees here before a wildfire in October of 2008 ravaged them. I took this photo to show the new growth juxtaposed against the charred bark.
I love seeing that these trees are making a comeback, and hopefully the rest of the park will follow before too long.
